Nail Tutorial: Matte Glitter

I guess you could say I’m a pretty “girly” girl.  I like to have my nails painted.  I don’t need to go get them done, but I like to ensure that they’re always painted and looking decent…chips happen.

The last few days i’ve been walking around polish free because I haven’t found a good time to paint them, but I had some free time today while Job and I were looking at apartments.

I discovered this nail polish combination right around New Years but added a slightly different polish into the mix.

So disclaimer here, I used six different nail polishes to get the final look.  You can stop anywhere and just put on a topcoat, but since I had the time, I decided to have some fun.

Polishes:

CND Stickey Anchoring Base Coat

OPI Black Onyx

  • Step 1: Put on a nice layer of Stickey to start off.image

  • Step 2: Put on a layer of Black Onyx.image
  • Step 3: Put on a layer of Bridal Veil.image

  • Step 4: Put on a layer of Spark-tacular!.image
  • Step 5: Put on a layer of Air Dryimage

  • Step 6: Finish with a layer of Matte Top Coat.image

It’s pretty easy to apply. If you find you like a way any of the polishes look in the interim, please feel free to add your top coat and say you’re done.  You may also notice that the last three products are all topcoat.  The reason that I pot a top coat over the Spark-Tacular is because it lays each piece of glitter flat and the particular one I use really speeds up the drying time. I really like the way the Matte finish give the Spark-tacular top coat because it really highlights each and every sparkle.  The first time I did this, I omitted the Bridal Veil.  The reason I added it here is because it actually has really tiny silver sparkles in the polish and I thought that it looked really cool once it was Matte’d. If you hate how the matte looks, just go over once more with top coat and it will be glossy again! You can also do color variations.  I recommend using dark colors like a navy blue, or a deep violet or garnet… Basically any dark jewel tones work well.

See how you like it!
